Thanks sooo much.....worked over 12 hours to get this darn thing to work..Samsung was of no help!! Had the firmare downloaded, just didn't have the correct procedure (holding play button on, disconnecting, turning player on and so forth...)

I look on my player and it shows that it is upgraded to the new Version: 001.156.876, but when I plug it back into my pc I still get Found New Hardware MTP device and then I go to Windows media player 10 and it does not find the device.  what do I need to do?

I hold the play button down and I get a USB Device Not Recognized message.  What do I do to get it recognized?

You need to download the firmware from samsung's website - the stupdater.exe won't work by itself.

This thing is a piece of crap with a low storage capacity. Mine is broken AGAIN...big suprise there! A bit of advice to you is to throw it away and buy a good one!!!

I do not get to start button (step 8), it just keeps initializing and then stops.

I have the same troubles except I can not get the firmware updater to work, nor can I access the stupdater.exe to work either.  Apparently my XP system is so smart it is preventing anything form being downloaded.  Not to mention my limitation with computer skils as well.  The disc that came with the MP3 player says everyting is fine.  The computer has updated to player 11 and I can not successfuly "roll back to 10" which is where it worked.  Meanwhile ding-dong ding-dong - this player won't work.

Do you have any other ideas to get me back on track or should I just forget this piece of junk and go buy another?  If so what works with XP in player 11?

Just a note I have had to do this several times it always seems to work. I really wish Samsung would do some kind of permanent firmware update or at the very least put the information contained in this thread on their official site. I think there might be something to the drive F: issue I had a number of virtual drives installed and my mo3 player stopped working again I removed the drives and updated the firmware and it is syncing now.

Tuve el mismo problema al instalar el Windows Media Player 11, intente miles de cosas para que funcionara y nada. Hasta que en la pagina de samsug baje el driver y asi si funciono. hasta que despues de formatera la compu, al bajar de nuevo el WMP 11 presente el mismo problema y por desgracia no esta disponible el driver.

Another word of advice to those who may require it. Do not use a USB extension cord, as it seems to take too long to initialize.

yo consegui que mi pc detecte mi mp3 yp-u2j

descarge e instale windows media player 11.

resetie e mp3 donde dice reset con una aguja.

encender el mp3 y colocarlo en la salida usb que corresponde de la pc, luego cargar el window media player seguir los pasos de sincrnizacion entonce aparece colocar disposivo e intentarlo hasta lograr activarlo.

Lei un poco el manual y segui algunas instrucciones de el.

Downloading firmware doesn't help even a bit. Still "stmpress.dll" error.

For those who get the error: "unable to load resource dll: stmpres.dll" - Verify you have administrator rights to download the dll. (not all user accounts have admin rights assigned to them). Go to the Control Panel and select "User Accounts". Click on your account and verify your permissions.
